For Smolensk 1941, I have selected three pieces of music
appropriate for that period.

- AVictory (probably not to be played often in the game,
as it will be hard to win as the Soviets): The USSR National Anthem
After the Tsarist Regime had been toppled in 1917,
its National Anthem had to go too (incidentally, that was "God save
our gracious Tsar", just like the UK National Anthem!) and a special
song was composed to reflect the victory of the Great Socialist Revolution!
This song was discared when the Wall came down.

- XVictory: the (un)official German National Anthem in the Nazi period,
the "Horst Wessel Song". This marching song of the NSDAP (German Nazi Party)
was composed in honour of the SA man Horst Wessel, who was killed in
the line of Nazi duty (as the story goes, more to the truth was that
he was killed in a bar brawl!). It became the second National Anthem, besides
the more famous "Deutschland, Deutschland ber alles".

- NVictory: for a draw I have chosen the song "Ich htte ein kamarad"
("I had a friend"), a fairly somber song, often played at burrials of
German soldiers. As a draw in Smolensk 1941 is IMO a better result for
the Soviets than for the Germans, I found this moody German song
more apprpriate.
